DEL-ICIO-US what is this? I looked at this web site today and learned about tagging. This can be used as a useful tool in libraries as a way of allowing clients to access tags that we have created using Del-icio-us. These tags can be accessed from anywhere and allows us to share information with a whole network of people. Tagging allows us to organise sites into more managable lists.

Feeding Time

RSS Feeds were interesting! !

They save time by your favourite sites being instantly available and updating you with information as it occurs. Not having to search each site separately each time is cool. I signed up for lots of RSS feeds, I look forward to being kept up to date!!

Social Networking

This is really interesting but a real "time waster" A great way to keep up to date with what your friends are up to and to communicate whether its "wall to wall" or "live chat".

The sites mentioned "Facebook", "Twitter", and "My Space" are all popular with young people and some not so young people! A great way for libraries to advertise an upcoming activity or promotion which they want to get out to a large audience.

Clients could possibly discuss certain books or topics on social networking sites and meet other people with similar interests.

WIKIS ARE FUN

Wikis can be used to communicate with a group of people and allows them to "have their say"
It allows anyone in the group to contribute information and ideas for everyone accessing the wiki site. Anyone in the group can add or delete (edit) the existing wiki page so the rest of the group can be kept informed of whatever the subject happens to be.

Flickr

This is one of my favourite images. This is the view I had from one of the office windows in one of my previous jobs in the UK. One of the scenes of Harry Potter was filmed in the cloisters, I have seen the fake piece of wall that was removed in the movie! The river Weir was usually very busy with rowers from Durham University on a fine day!

My Learning Journey

I am looking forward to this learning journey to learn about BLOGGING!

I am excited to be able to learn this new concept as a means of learning and communicating and also to be able to keep up with my children in the world of technology.

I think this training will enable me as a library assistant to deliver better customer service to our library clients. I have not had much blogging experience but am looking forward to my journey!
